The Jena BioHydrogen Factory – Topic in the Science Year Bioeconomy 2020/21
Dwindling resources and arable land coupled with a growing world population, climate change and declining biodiversity are calling for a shift away from an economy based on fossil resources toward a sustainable, biobased economy – the bioeconomy. Science is driving these innovations and ensuring that microorganisms, algae and other “little heroes” of the bioeconomy make a big impact. The BioEnergie Verbund e.V. also has the “bioeconomy” at the top of its agenda.
Thus, by leading the innovation forum “BioH2BK – Central Germany: BioHydrogen + Bioconversion” within the Science Year, BioEnergie Verbund e.V. was able to present bioconversion as part of the bioeconomy in several, predominantly digital events and also sensitize the participants to our biohydrogen factory.
That this topic is also of interest to the Federal Ministry of Education and Research is shown by the inclusion of our contribution dated 17.09.2021 on the website: https://www.wissenschaftsjahr.de/2020-21/aktuelles/koepfe-des-wandels/die-biowasserstoff-fabrik under the heading “Heads of Change”.
The Science Year 2020/21 will come to an end with the digital closing event on November 29, 2021, from 5 to 7 p.m. After a detailed review of the highlights of two exciting, educational and eventful years, the results of the 20/21 funded project workshops will be presented, and an interactive panel discussion will be held on the topic “Dialogue between research and society – insights from the Bioeconomy Science Year.”
We would like to cordially invite all interested parties to participate actively in shaping this topic, which is so important for our society.
